In former times it was a true classic of the region, mainly big water type. There was ca. 150 km of whitewater paddling up to class 4-5. We were there in 2012, and all the upper sections were dammed. It was possible to paddle the lower section below Barhal river, but the last dam is just about to fill up :/

- Put-in: on the right bank of the Barhal/en river, in Yusufeli town, or on the left bank of the Coruh Nehri/en river, below the confluence with Barhal/en.

It used to be beg water section (250 cms), with huge buolder gardens and huge holes. We had very low water (70 cms or even less), so it was class 3-4.
